Gold that boosts your signal.

GemGold is Gemina’s range of gold nanoparticles for rapid tests delivering improved surface binding effectiveness and 3x brighter signal. GemGold provides ultra uniform citrate-capped nanospheres, and conjugates in which streptavidin or Protein G attaches to the gold in a controlled orientation.

Why the particle matters

Passive attachment
Controlled orientation with a GemGold anchor

How GemGold works

  1. Streptavidin or Protein G is genetically fused to a proprietary gold-binding anchor, making a single protein.
  2. The anchor end attaches to the gold particle, so the streptavidin or Protein G end faces outward in a controlled orientation.
  3. Your capture molecule binds to it, ready to meet the target. For the streptavidin conjugate, the capture chain is streptavidin-gold, biotinylated capture molecule, target.
  4. GemGold produces a strong signal – up to 3x brighter than other products

GemGold products

GemGold citrate gold nanospheres
(coming Q1 2027)

What it is
35 nm single-crystal, citrate-stabilized gold nanospheres.
How it is used
developers conjugate their own antibody or protein to the particle, using their existing process.
Designed for
developers of lateral flow assays and biosensors who want an ultra uniform, ultra bright particle.
Benefits
designed for tight size uniformity and strong absorbance, for a consistent signal from lot to lot.

GemGold gold-binding streptavidin conjugate
(coming 2027)

What it is
a standalone conjugate in which a proprietary gold-binding anchor causes streptavidin to attach to the particle in an oriented way, instead of by random passive adsorption, or by covalent conjugation.
How it is used
biotinylated antibodies bind to the streptavidin on the particle, which then captures the target.
Designed for
developers of lateral flow assays and biosensors who want a ready-made oriented conjugate.
Benefits
designed to remove coupling steps and reduce lot-to-lot variability from passive adsorption.

GemGold gold-binding Protein G conjugate
(coming 2027)

What it is
a standalone conjugate in which a proprietary gold-binding anchor causes Protein G to attach to the particle in an oriented way, instead of by random passive adsorption, or by covalent conjugation.
How it is used
unmodified antibodies bind to the Protein G on the particle through their Fc region, which then captures the target.
Designed for
developers of lateral flow assays and biosensors who want a ready-made oriented conjugate without biotinylating their antibody.
Benefits
designed to remove coupling steps and reduce lot-to-lot variability from passive adsorption.
