How Gemina collects, uses and protects the personal information you share with us through this website.

Last updated: November 6, 2026

Who we are and what this covers

Gemina Laboratories Ltd. (“Gemina,” “we” or “us”) is a privately held company based in Burnaby, British Columbia. This page explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how we look after it.

We handle personal information in line with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

We only collect what we need to respond to you. Most of it comes from forms you choose to fill in:

  • Contact form: name, work email, organization, topic and message.
  • Investor contact form: name, email and comments.
  • Download form: first and last name, work email, organization, role (optional) and whether you agree to receive updates.
  • Notify me and news alerts: work email.

When you visit the site, our hosting and analytics services may also record basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and when.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • answer your enquiry and follow up on evaluation, partnering or investor requests;
  • send you a file you asked to download;
  • let you know when results or news you signed up for are published;
  • send occasional Gemina updates, but only if you have agreed to receive them;
  • keep the website secure and understand how it is used, so we can improve it; and
  • meet our legal obligations.

We do not use your information for any other purpose without asking you first, unless the law requires or permits it.

Email updates and consent

We send marketing or update emails only to people who have agreed to receive them, for example by ticking the box on the download form or subscribing to news alerts. That box is never ticked for you. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time using the contact details below.

We follow Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL) for all commercial emails.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information.

We share it only with service providers that help us run the website and our communications, such as website hosting, email and contact-management tools. They may use it only to provide those services to us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or as part of a merger, financing or sale of the business, in which case it would remain protected under the same terms.

Where it is stored

Your information is stored by Gemina and our service providers. Some providers may store or process it outside Canada, for example in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How we protect it

We use reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access. Access is limited to people at Gemina and our service providers who need it to do their work.

Cookies

The website may use cookies and similar technologies to make it work properly and, if enabled, to measure how it is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may not.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used;
  • correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • stop sending you emails; or
  • withdraw your consent to other uses, subject to legal or contractual limits.

Send your request to our Privacy Officer using the details below. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
